‘Das Magazin’ and the Literary Journal in the Low Countries

Anyone looking to write a history of the literary journal in Flanders and the Netherlands will undoubtedly discover that 2011 was a pivotal year. That was the year when the Dutch State Secretary for Culture scrapped all subsidies for literary magazines. Sadly, a number of journals have indeed disappeared. But in that accursed year 2011several new journals were actually founded, including Das Magazin. This journal, in particular, has grown into a phenomenon within a short space of time.
