Exploring the Limits of the Familiar. The Art of Guido Geelen
(Bianca Stigter) The Low Countries - 1997, № 5, pp. 118-123
Guido Geelen work inspires the viewer with a deep sense of liberation. He has accomplished that which others, given the practical obstacles, can only dream of; he has wrested objects from their fixed forms. He uses actual objects as moulds which he fills up with clay. Thus, although on the face of it concerned with destruction, his work is also about creation. He often uses simple shapes and revels in unlikely combinations and juxtapositions.
