Flip through Flanders: Flanders’ Finest Writers Are Crossing the Channel
Ask avid readers from Dublin or London who, say, Peter Verhelst or Charlotte Van den Broeck is, he or she might not know. Flanders Literature wants to brush up on their knowledge with Flip through Flanders, a campaign promoting Dutch-language literature from Flanders across the UK and Ireland until 2025.
In previous years, the Dutch Foundation for Literature promoted Dutch authors and their translators with the New Dutch Writing campaign. Now it is Flanders Literature’s turn to promote home-grown literary talent across all forms: non-fiction, novels, poetry, picture books, theatre, graphic novels and comic books.
In the coming years, Flemish authors and translators will be popping up at a range of festivals and literature venues across the UK and Ireland with lectures, debates and workshops of all kinds.
Flip through Flanders will be launched at the Literary Translation Centre of the London Book Fair London on Wednesday 19 April.
Authors Sulaiman Addonia, Charlotte Van den Broeck and literary translator Michele Hutchison will read their work and discuss translation to kick off the festivities.
