After the Belgian parliamentary elections of June 1999 the Green parties Agalev (Dutch-speaking) and Ecolo (French-speaking) joined the coalition government for the first time. There is however a clear contrast between Green thinking and the prevailing way of doing business in Belgian politics. The author investigates the consequences of this clash between Green ideology and traditional political culture.
