Iduna Paalman: Keep Sterile, Do Not Prick

This week's Friday Verses are written by Iduna Paalman. We translated Steriel houden, niet prikken (Keep Sterile, Do Not Prick). This poem was first published in Dutch in Het Liegend Konijn, a magazine for contemporary Dutch-language poetry.

Iduna Paalman (b. 1991, Rolde) is a writer and poet. 2019 saw the publication by uitgeverij Querido of her well-received poetic debut De grom uit de hond halen (Getting the Growl out of the Dog). De Volkskrant subsequently proclaimed her the literary talent of the year, and the collection was nominated for the Ida Gerhardt Poetry Prize and C. Buddingh’ Prize. Iduna has published in De Gids, De Revisor, Het Liegend Konijn, NRC Handelsblad, etc. She is a columnist for VPRO Mondo, De Groene Amsterdammer and Hard/hoofd.
