Eighteen young authors have brought nineteenth-century artefacts from the Rijksmuseum to life. They have taken inspiration from the question: what do you see when you look at these objects with an eye for invisible labour? Laure-Anne Vermaercke invites us to take a very close look at the Diorama of the Zeezigt Coffee and Cotton Plantation, made by Gerrit Schouten in c. 1815 – c. 1821. ‘A miniature world made on commission.’

Laure-Anne Vermaercke

Laure-Anne Vermaercke (b.1996) is a poet. For many years, she was one of the driving forces behind Auw La and she performed on stages in Belgium and beyond. Her work has been published in Dilemma and Waar Zine de Vrouwen and on Notulen van het Onzichtbare. In the summer of 2018, she went on tour with the Poëziebus (poetry bus) and in the autumn of 2019 she and Marie Bockaert published the chapbook FEAR/JOY of Missing Out with Marktcorruptie.
