Oumaima Belkhdar: message from the _____: come back girl

Eighteen young Flemish and Dutch authors have taken inspiration from seventeenth-century artefacts from the Rijksmuseum. Looking at these objects, what eureka moments do they see? Oumaima Belkhdar wrote a text to accompany Dirck van Delen’s painting Interior of a Gothic Church. ‘breathe life/ into my mouth before you down the sun.’

Oumaima Belkhdar

Oumaima Belkhdar (b. 2000) is a spoken word artist, poet and prose writer. She is a member of Poetry Circle Eindhoven, was selected for Full Circle 2023 and is one of the young talents championed by literary platform Vuurland. To this day, she opens wardrobes in the hope of finding Narnia, but for now, she loses herself in the question: who can we be? Her imaginative stories often deal with the grey area between social position and identity.
