Revolt of the Students. 1969 versus 2015

In 1969 and again in 2015, the Maagdenhuis, the administrative centre of the University of Amsterdam was occupied by angry students. One who dismisses the 2015 student protests in advance as an event of less societal importance than the one of the 1960s, also underestimates the fundamental uncertainty about how the past will be ordered in the future. Once sufficient time has passed, it is quite possible that an era of regularly occurring university protests will be drawn up, in which the 1960s are perhaps presented as a warm-up exercise and the 2010s as its climax.
