The photographer Vanfleteren has simply dreamed up his whole personal, wilful, idiosyncratic Belgium and created his own truth. Belgium is in the eye of the beholder. Le spectacle est dans le spectateur. That spectator has now made an archive of the spectacle in his book Belgicum.
