Karel Dierickx (1940-2014) is one of the most famous contemporary artists in Belgium. He studied and taught at the Academy of Arts in Ghent and participated in the 1984 Venice Biennale for the Belgian pavilion.

Dierickx is considered a quiet, introverted artist who was active as a painter, draftsman and sculptor. Whether in landscapes, still lifes, portraits or sculptures, Karel Dierickx's art always moves between representationalism and abstraction.
The exhibition in Münster shows a selection of paintings, drawings, gouaches and sculptures that Dierickx created between 1990 and 2010. A special focus is on a donation of 14 prints entitled Kruisweg (Way of the Cross).
