More info

Frankie is a band with a frontman, shrill guitars and tight drums. The difference from other bands? They're made entirely from tape and paper. Laguna Beach is Frankie's universe. A place that carries both cheerful naivety and bitter emotions.

Frankie's universe is fragmentary, messy and imperfect, but also cinematic, funny and moving. On stage, the interaction between live music and machine-driven installations creates an expanding tableau, in which shrill guitars, noise, dolls, fishing wire and wood play the leading role. From total failure to tropical idyll - Laguna Beach disarms through its cheerful naivety.

Frankie is Simon Lynen, Vincent Lynen, Brecht Hayen, Jef Staut and Timo Fannoy. The collective / band brings together image and sound in different installations, somewhere between performance and concert. Video, TV, live music or animation - whatever medium they use, the nonchalance and ambiance from their studio works deliberately sneaks onto the stage.

Frankie is supported by the Ghent arts centre CAMPO in a longer collaboration project. This first production was co-produced by the Brakke Grond in the context of Grensverkeer.
